Everlot is a sword-and-sorcery massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) which Ron joined in order to impress his then girlfriend Zita Flores. He succesfully played the game with Wade's assistance, until the two ended up trapped in the game by Malcolm Nevious and were later saved with the help of Kim, Wade and Rufus.
Description
The login screen for Everlot.
The game is set in a Medieval Fantasy world called Everlot [1]. The mechanics allow both Player vs. Environment and Player vs. Player game-play in the central game, which disadvantages weaker players and allows higher leveled players to exploit the newer and lower level members in order to grow in power and level. As was seen by the way The Wraith King tormented and captured other, weaker players.
The core game mechanics seem to follow usual sword-and-sorcery MMORPG conventions, including fetch quests, loot drops, magic use, legendary weapons and different races and classes.
Characters
The game contains at least the following classes and character types, as played by characters in the episode:
- Knave - Ron
- Spritekin - Kim
- Sorcerer/Wizard - Wade, Jake
- Warrior - Malcolm ("The Wraith Master"), Rufus ("The Tunnel Lord"), Zita ("She-warrior of the Ice Mountains")
Areas in Everlot:
- Ethelred's High Manor
- Magnosium Thorn Bog
- Newforest
- Ice Mountains
Items in Everlot:
- Sword of Elsinore
- The Aspen Powerwand of Newforest
- Mounts are also available in the game, in the form of horses, as seen being ridden by the player in the opening scene of Virtu-Ron as well as the horse ridden by The Wraith Master.
Trivia
- Everlot is an allusion to popular MMORPGs of the late 90s and early 2000s such as EverQuest and the then-newly-launched, World of Warcraft MMOs.
- Its name is thus no doubt a combination of the words 'EverQuest' and the fictional Medieval kingdom of 'Camelot'.
- According to Wade the game was programmed with the fuzzy logic hierarchy model, which is an actual Artifical Intelligence model [2].
- The Aspen Powerwand of Newforest is also seen used by a player character in one of Ron's console video games[3].
